First came Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are, the children’s book so many people have loved well into adulthood. Then Spike Jonze asked Dave Eggers to help him with the screenplay for a film adaption he was making of the book. Then Eggers ran with the idea and turned it all into this 287-page novel, The Wild Things. Which, in this particular edition, looks less like a book and more like a Wild Thing itself, covered in fur, with two eyes peering out of the front cover. Besides being furry, our copy is new and signed by the author, who Globe and Mail critic Maria Tatar said “makes Max his own through deft touches” and “brings Max to life with his trademark kinetic narrative energy.”
