An unusually good first edition copy of this hard-to-find work. The Forge is the first book in the Vaiden trilogy by the author T.S. Stribling. (The second, The Store, would win the Pulitzer Prize and is more easily found.) The book begins at the onset of the Civil War, as the protagonist, Miltiades Vaiden, enlists in the Confederate Army.
