Comments: This is a sweet book about Jewish holidays. The writers have created 2 characters, brother and sister Ilana and David, and in each chapter they celebrate a different holiday and learn about its meaning. For the chapter on Pesach, the authors name the holiday's meaning as Continuity: "I was at Sinai." In the story, Ilana learns about her grandmother's childhood, and talk about historical examples of Jewish exodus. The chapter on Yom Kippur discusses the meaning of Prayer: Talking to God. In the story, David and his dad talk about prayer, and how it can be meaningful for individuals. Each chapter includes watercolor illustrations of David and Ilana's family. Publisher's Weekly writes, "Parents and children could not find a better place to begin to share the blessings of the holidays."
