At over 600 pages it is a captivating and extremely comprehensive history, beginning in Ancient Egypt and China and ending with a chapter titled "Le Cirque Depuis La Guerre" ("The Circus Since the War), written by L.-R. Dauven specifically for the republishing of the text after Thetard's death.
