The "rainbow" in the title does not refer to afghans of 7 different colors, as each of the nearly 30 projects in this book can be made with whichever color the artist chooses. The book helps with the choice, by providing color illustrations of how each pattern would look with a few different color schemes. The book begins with over 30 pages of basics on both knitting and crocheting, introducing the beginner crafter to techniques, vocabulary, and helpful tips. Then come the projects: from the traditional Patchwork to the pretty White Aran to the striped and textured Jewel Lap Blanket. Each pattern is more beautiful than the last, and Linsley's instructions are easy and fun to follow.
