The authors, wife, husband, and son are highly accomplished conservators and restorers. Their restorations can be found in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Yale University Art Gallery, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, among others. The content includes more than 55 glazing, marbling, and graining effects, and how to select among them; step by step instruction on techniques; and developing your own finished. The book also includes the business end of the profession, with guidance on working with clients, preparing and presenting samples, and the entire job execution process. The authors spared no expense on this book, as you can imagine from this level of visual artist: over 500 hundred full color illustrations and charts are included, as well as a glossary and a list of suppliers. See photos of the interesting processes in sample finishes.
