Comments: Alfred Morgan (1889-1972) was an electrical engineer and radio manufacturer who also wrote several science and technology books for children. This vintage volume begins by explaining that "The profession of chemist is open to both men and women. As a hobby for boys and girls it is filled with fun and adventure." After a short description of chemistry as a science, the book dives into instructions for 64 at-home chemistry experiments. Some, such as making butter with cream and an egg beater, can still be done by children today, while others call for materials that are no longer easily available or considered "perfectly safe" for children. An entertaining read for both learning chemistry and comparing today's science education to that of the 1960s. Pleasing black-and-white illustrations depicting children with their experiments.
