As I Was Crossing Boston Common

$50.00

by Norma Farber:
Illustrations/Photography by: Arnold Lobel
A charming picture book that was nominated for the National Book Award when it came out in 1975. Though the author, Norma Farber, was a well-respected poet and wrote 18 books of verse and stories for children, collectors may be interested in this book at least as much for it’s illustrator: Arnold Lobel, the author and illustrator of the beloved Frog and Toad early reader series and the winner, over the course of his career, of the Caldecott Medal, the Caldecott Honor, and the Newberry Award. In this book, the unseen narrator describes coming across an increasingly unlikely (and difficult to spell!) string of animals on Boston Common. Publisher’s Weekly called it “a marvelous union of poetry and pictures” and Kirkus Reviews said Lobel’s illustrations of the growing circle of animals creates “a magical dream you won't want to end.”
