Comments: For the history of science buff. Saunders was an American physicist noted for his work in sub-infrared spectroscopy and acoustics. This particular textbook has gone through several editions, with this being the first. Among other distinctions, Saunders was a professor at Harvard for 44 years and a founder of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA). A printout of the National Academy of Sciences bibliographic memoir of 12 pages on Professor Saunders, plus a three-page bibliography, is included.
