Holden was an English artist and art teacher, and in The Country Diary, she captured the natural world of her times. The images in this Postcard book are of her illustrations. Interestingly, The Country Diary, from which this Postcard book is derived, was not published until 1977, fifty-seven years after her death. It became an international best seller, with Britain's Sunday Times naming it in 2024 as one of "top 100 best-selling books of the last 50 years." (It was #12.)
